Crowdfund UC Davis thanks all of the donors who gave to this important project in October. This campaign has closed, but you can still support our program by making a donation.
Happy Halloween!
We have already surpassed our goal! Every additional $500 means funding for a student and a brand new display drawer for the Bohart. With 10 new drawers now funded, we could certainly use more.
With only 10 hours left we are going to stretch our goal to $6500 or 13 drawers. We often bring more than 10 drawers to events like the Dixon May Fair or the Solano Youth Ag Day or loan them to the Santa Cruz County Fair Bug Barn.
We already have $350 pledged towards our new goal and the minimum donation is just $5. If you are loving all the spider decorations for Halloween, please support our student-designed drawers that celebrate terrestrial arthropod diversity (that includes spiders) year round.
Thank you!
Since 1993 the Bohart Museum has been supporting the Santa Cruz County Fair Bug Barn in their outreach efforts. Please watch this lovely short video created by Professor Kim Sakamoto Steidl about the importance of the Bohart Museum's educational display boxes. The last day to donate to this cause is Sunday, October 31.
We miss Robbin here at the Bohart. He was an emeritus professor who thrived in retirement. He was a tireless champion of bumble bees and was always enthusiastic about education and outreach. Most public Bohart events he would show up with a few male bumble bees in a deli container. Males don't have stingers, so they are safe to hold. People who overcame their apprehension to hold or feel them buzz were amazed. The picture here is the last event that Robbin participated in before he passed away. Unfortunately we could't find any male bumble bees for him to have on hand, but he is talking to people about bees from Turkey and their diversity.
Thank you to James Gonzalez-Harris and Kathy Keatley Garvey for their donations in honor of Robbin. The $500 dollars James donated means that one of our new drawers will have his and Robbin's name on the box. In this way Robbin can still be with us as we engage in insect outreach all over northern California.
Is there someone in your life who you would like to honor or remember through a donation to the Bohart? Please donate before October 31st. We would love to have more display boxes in honor or in memory of a special person.
We are excited to have reached 28% of our goal! Thank you to all the generous people both in California, South Carolina and even Guam! We would love for more people, states, territories and countries to be included on our donor wall. The minimum donation is $5.
We've attached a photo of Dan Sandri who just donated empty insect drawers to the Bohart Museum- some of which will be turned into traveling displays. We have already reached $1450 dollars, so we are just $50 away from sponsoring a third drawer! Our goal is to sponsor 10 student-created drawers.
Please share our link and our short video about this project. Thank you!
