Together with Aggie Mental Health, we are raising funds to support a public art installation on campus to promote awareness around student mental well-being. With this installation, we hope to not only provide a space to normalize mental health discussions, but also show that philanthropy can be used as a channel to highlight and engage the various facets of student life.
Aggie Mental Health is a campus wide mental health campaign supporting student mental health and well-being, and was developed through direct collaboration with students. They bring together students, scholars, staff, faculty and campus affiliates to collectively raise mental health awareness at UC Davis and promote mental health that centers the lived experiences of the diverse student population.
The Spring 2021 American College Health Association - National College Health Assessment (ACHA-NCHA) conducted by UC Davis found that 36.8% of undergraduate students reported experiencing high levels of stress in the past 12 months. The transition back to in-person activities from a period of isolation have presented significant consequences on students that may affect one’s mental health.
According to a study by the University of Arizona, looking at art increases blood flow to the brain as much as 10% and allows one to embody the motion and energy of the art piece. Analyzing art helps keep your brain stimulating both conscious and unconscious brain functions, which can promote better mental well-being.
Your gift will directly help us give back to fellow UC Davis students and ensure a legacy from the Senior Class of 2023 (and Fall 2022).
