About our program
In its 12th year, UC Davis Biodiversity Museum Day remains a free, annual, educational event for the community. Each year thousands of visitors stroll the campus on the Saturday of Presidents' Day weekend, visiting UC Davis' biological collections and meeting and talking with scientists. Participating collections include, but are not limited to, the Phaff Yeast Culture Collection, Bohart Museum of Entomology, Museum of Wildlife and Fish Biology, Arboretum and Public Garden, California Raptor Center, Earth and Planetary Sciences Paleontology Collections, Botanical Conservatory, Center for Plant Diversity, Nematode Collections, Marine Invertebrate Teaching Collection and Department of Anthropology Museum.
Last year, we were able to offer an in-person "BioDivDay" at the UC Davis Conference Center, where each collection staffed a booth, allowing COVID guidelines to be followed. We also moved the event to March because of COVID.
Our plan for this year is to resume an in-person event at our respective locations across campus on Saturday, February 18, 2023. This way, for the first time since 2020, we can fully share the breadth of our collections. Your support will enable our 11 collections - the students, staff and faculty associated with them - to hold this event. For more information about the event, please visit our website.
About your donation
Donations will not only help us sustain this free science event, they will enable our student interns to take science outreach to a whole new level. The goal of our event is to connect people from all walks of life to science and the biodiversity surrounding them. All donors will be recognized on the Biodiversity Museum Day social media accounts with a shout-out post.
