Crowdfund UC Davis thanks all of the donors who gave to this important project in February. This campaign has closed, but you can still support our program by making a donation.
Working with our collaborators at Oakland Zoo and the California Wolf Center, we will 1) evaluate the personality of gray wolves living in packs, 2) determine individual differences in problem-solving strategies, and 3) explore the relationship between personality and problem-solving strategies among wolves.
Investigating how wolf personality may relate to response to novelty and performance in cognitive challenges can provide “paw-sitive” impacts across multiple areas of study including the following:
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to purchase the essential materials to build novel stimuli and puzzle boxes to accomplish our research goals. As the project is entering into its first year, your support will help make this project come to life. We appreciate your generosity and look forward to sharing project updates with you!
Your gift of $25 can be used to purchase stainless steel fixtures and fittings that will provide structure to and allow us to safely secure all of the objects and puzzle boxes.
Your thoughtful donation of $50 can go towards additional prototype parts such as metal turntables to allow for object rotation or non-toxic shock-absorbing rubber seals for a ‘wobble’ device.
Your $100 contribution can assist in the implementation of novel objects such as through the purchase of PVC pipes at bulk price or three Boomer Balls!
Your generous donation of $250 will help our team build half of the foundation for a single puzzle box, which needs to be both weather-proof & wolf-safe!
Your extraordinary donation of $500 will support the additional replicates we need to make to ensure that each wolf has their own object and puzzle box.
