Support the Hemispheric Institute of the Americas

Many graduate students at UC Davis are doing groundbreaking work in Latin America and the Caribbean Region. These include investigating volatile political landscapes in the region, issues of environmental degradation, access to water, the role of arts in society, cultural change, the legacy of colonialism, community resilience, and more. However, not all these brilliant students have the support they need to conduct fieldwork in countries of this region.

The HIA Summer Fellowships is a program dedicated to support graduate students in the early stages of their dissertation research to travel to Latin America during the summer. It is the flagship program of the Hemispheric institute of the Americas, housed at UC Davis's College of Letters and Sciences. Through it we have funded, for many years, about a dozen students per year and hope to continue providing this much-needed service.

We thank you for supporting the 2023 HIA Summer Fellowship with your donation. By doing so, you are making a difference in the trajectory of these students and supporting the next generation of leaders who will transform the region into a more habitable, understood, and humane place.

Please support the Hemispheric Institute of the Americas (HIA) program, including our top priority to fund our summer fellowships.

Give what you can

$5 may not seem like a big deal, but every donation is critical in offering more fellowships.

Every bit makes a difference

Every $25 gift helps us get one step closer in funding more fellowships.

Future leaders

Imagine how important it is to have more graduate students focused on the study of transnational processes in the American Hemisphere.

Be the change

Our students have the potential to be the agents of change, and we hope to support them the best we can. Your gift will help us do that!

Commit to research

A $500 gift helps us stand firm in our commitment to challenge the boundaries of disciplinary specialization and culture area studies. A gift at this level will receive a handwritten thank you note from HLA staff.
