We are Formula Racing at UC Davis (FRUCD). Each year, we design, manufacture, and compete with a fully electric racecar from scratch. Our team is entirely student run --- all design, fabrication, planning, marketing, outreach, and racing is done by students. In the last in-person season, we placed 4th overall against top universities from around the world and hope to build on this strong performance. Our students leave the team with hands-on engineering experience with communicating, working in groups, and managing time effectively. Many of our alumni go off to make significant impacts in the world with their Formula Racing experiences.
ABOUT THE FUND
Your contributions power the mission of FRUCD: inspiring student engineers, crafting exceptional race cars, and embracing community and environmental values. This year, your generosity will provide support for our club including our current priority of reaching our goal to bring a winning car to competition. We plan to re-make our chassis and manufacture new uprights for our suspension. Additionally, your support will give our seniors a chance to travel to Michigan. Our group of passionate student engineers are excited to see this project come to life by physically manufacturing it and gaining hands-on experience. Through crowdfunding, we hope to ensure that money will not be an issue in providing our engineers with the fun and intricate manufacturing experience they deserve. With our community we can continue this club’s legacy and educational value.
ABOUT YOUR DONATION
Since we are a chapter of the non-profit Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), your donation can be 100% tax-deductible. Our club relies heavily on sponsorships and donations, your gift will ensure that we will have enough funds to purchase the supplies to produce a successful Formula Electric race car and provide strong competition to the other top universities around the world. Your support to FRUCD and its mission to engage student engineers, produce successful racecars, and support our community and environment.

Building a car requires a lot of material. From metal stock to dry carbon your donations help us get the material we need.
This year we are running a new upgraded powertrain package. Help us get our hands on high voltage disconnects for our drivetrain team and high voltage equipment to run a speed car.
This year the FSAE competition unfortunately overlaps with this years senior commencement. Since most of our leads are seniors, your donations will fund flights so we can get our students to compete in their last year.
Your gift of $1000 will help us overcome the budget shortage which limits our engineering capabilities. To thank you, we will specially highlight you on our social media and monthly newsletter, and we will provide an invitation to receive a full tour of our facilities/vehicles with a Q&A session with the team leads
Our number goal this year is to bring a running car to competition. Since the COVID outbreak, our team has struggled immensely with limited facilities and budget cuts. Such a donation would help us break the cycle and give us our team a chance at victory.
