We are so happy to announce our new STRETCH goal of $1,500!
Thank you for helping us reach our $1,000 goal! We are aiming higher and have set a new stretch goal to help our Civil Engineering students cultivate their academic, career, and social success while in ASCE.
Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is the nation’s oldest engineering society, representing more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries worldwide. ASCE stands at the forefront of a profession that plans, designs, constructs, and operates society’s built environment while protecting and restoring the natural environment.
ASCE at UC Davis is a community of over 160 students interested in Civil Engineering with each member being active in at least one of our (7) project teams (Concrete Canoe, Steel Bridge, Geowall, Environmental project, Construction Management, Seismic Design, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers). Each year, our chapter participates in the ASCE Mid-Pacific Student Symposium, an annual student conference in which students from more than 16 universities participate, competing in the project teams listed previously. These competitions allow students to showcase their knowledge learned in classes by working in teams to design, troubleshoot, and construct a finished project.
Student members also benefit from various academic and social events throughout the year including contractor-led tours of significant engineering projects, resume and interview workshops, networking opportunities with engineering professionals at our annual career fair, intramural sports, volunteering, and a mentorship program.
Please support ASCE to help fund our project teams and keep our events thriving, all to promote the professional successes of our Civil Engineering students here at UC Davis!
Your gift will allow students participating in our project teams to have new PPE they can trust such as safety glasses, hardhats, and lab coats.
Students in project teams will be supplied with necessary materials (metal, wood, cement, chemicals, etc.) and newer testing equipment for our annual MidPac competition!
This gift could fund an outreach event like our sports social with food, drinks, and equipment. Help fellow engineers meet each other and join a great community!
Up to 25 students would be able to attend a guided project site tour, not having to worry about travel and food expenses! Just like last years construction site visit in San Francisco.
Such a gift would fully cover the expenses to build a concrete canoe, a 6ft balsa wood structure, half the materials for our steel bridge, supply chemicals for our water quality testing, and so much more!
