Support the Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Student Association

We have a long term vision for developing a systemic mechanism for supporting graduate students in electrical and computer engineering, and improving the diversity and equity in the program through outreach activities. 

We have identified a need for supplementing the academic life of our graduate students with exposure to industry, career development and skillset enhancement workshops, and opportunities to interact and collaborate with researchers from both academia and industry. The logistics of organizing events to that end require some funding and that is why we (the Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Student Association) have turned to crowdfund UC Davis. Development of industry partnerships is also beneficial for our students in the long run, and will help future graduate students in the department. Our graduate students have expressed a collective desire for support for career development and for branching out beyond the confines of their own labs and their own research.

Additionally, we have historically participated in outreach activities on Picnic Day and in partnership with local schools and libraries with the objective of reaching out to young minds, especially underrepresented minorities, in order to inspire them to pursue electrical and computer engineering.

Donor support would help us host more events and workshops with industry partners, and also help us organize events with prominent researchers from both industry and academia, and provide us with the opportunity to organize more such events for our graduate students. Our outreach activities would also benefit significantly from donations as we require funding for procuring the necessary materials for these events.
