Support the Native American Graduate Student Association fund!

The Native American Studies Graduate Student Symposium at UC Davis, located on the lands of the Patwin-Wintun people, is one of the longest running Native American Studies conferences organized and operated by graduate students. Starting in 2011, the symposiums have included papers and presentations from NAS-related graduate students and upcoming student-scholars across and beyond the Americas, spanning themes of history and praxis to Indigenous futurity.

The Native American Studies Graduate Student Association is looking to receive funds for our 10th Annual Native American Studies Graduate Student Symposium. After a two year hiatus, NASGSA is excited to bring back this event in person to share our research, promote lively discussion, and engage with other NAS/AIS scholars. This event invites grad students from across the globe, includes guest speakers, and is open to the community.

This year's theme is "Native American and Indigenous Peoples Conceptualizing Ancestral (Home)lands: From Creation Stories to Migration, Removal, and Futurism." We hope to facilitate a forum that centers discussions around Native American and Indigenous conceptualizations of (home)lands, paying particular attention to the ways in which understandings of (home)land remain constant and deeply rooted to Creation Stories, while also moving and shifting in accordance with migration and removal, and continuously (re)imagine our futures.

Because this event is run by and for graduate students, we do not charge a conference registration fee, and rely on donations and fundraisers for the symposium's needs, such as renting a venue, giving honorariums to keynote speakers, providing refreshments and gift bags to presenters, and paying for technical support during the conference. Any amount given is greatly appreciated and will go a long way toward ensuring we have a successful symposium this year and for many years to come.

Your support of our crowdfund project will support the Native American Studies Graduate Student Association including the 10th Annual Native American Studies Graduate Student Symposium.
