Each academic term, undergraduate students from throughout the University of California come to UC Center Sacramento (UCCS) to learn about public policy and participate in internships at government agencies and in the offices of legislators and other elected officials. These opportunities are a stepping stone towards greater civic engagement and, in many cases, careers in public service. This crowdfunding campaign aims to ensure that all UCCS students have access to the program despite financial barriers. While all UCCS students receive academic credit, many are matched with offices that are unable to provide direct financial support. Sometimes a small amount of financial assistance makes the difference between being able to attend the UCCS program and not being able to attend. We believe UCCS should be accessible to all UC students who are interested and qualified.
Through this crowdfunding campaign, you can help deserving students gain valuable experience in government and public service while limiting their financial stress. Contributions will benefit the UC Center Sacramento Student Scholarship Fund and will provide travel assistance to students with financial need.
Each gift of $25 will pay for a networking coffee so a student can participate in an informational interview.
Every gift of $50 will allow a student to host a networking lunch that can help build important connections.
A gift of $100 covers one month of parking and/or travel expenses related to an internship.
A gift of $300 will provide clothing and accessories for interviews, internships, and special events in business and government settings.
Every gift of $750 will help defer travel or housing expenses for a student coming to UCCS from a distant campus.
A gift of $1,500 can cover a stipend that will make an unpaid internship paid.
